Book your exclusive visit to the studio of world acclaimed Paper Sculpture Artist Ray Besserdin. Ray is a local artist with over 35 national and international awards. His corporate and private works hang in London, Munich, Monaco, Manhattan, Tokyo, New Zealand, Copenhagen and throughout Australia.
Born to artist parents and entirely self-taught, Ray pioneered his signature “Impressionist Sculptured Paper” style to capture expression and emotion without realism, using sculptured torn papers, much like bas-relief. Using a “palette” of handmade and mould-made papers, Ray’s creations are a fusion between painting and three-dimensional sculpture. While nature is his favourite subject, he also enjoys portraiture, abstract and ultra-realism, working from miniature to gigantic installations.

Ray's studio is located in Avonsleigh, only 10-minutes away from the Puffing Billy Lakeside Visitor Centre by car.
Book a visit in the morning ahead of a booked train journey from Lakeside to Gembrook return, or as part of a visit to other parts of our beautiful region.

- 10.30 am - 11.00 am | Tour of Ray Besserdin's studio
- 11.30 am | Arrive at Lakeside Visitor Centre to check in for train ride 60-minutes before departure
- 12.35 pm | Train departs for Gembrook station
